Today’s card of the day is a 1973 University of Florida Playing Card of Glenn Cameron. Cameron, a linebacker, was a third-team All-American in 1974, and he was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984.
After college, Cameron played eleven seasons for the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals. He played in one Super Bowl, the Bengals’ 26-21 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XVI. Strangely, though he was a starter for seven years, he never appeared on a football card as a pro.
Cameron attended Coral Gables Senior High School in Florida. Remarkably, three of his high school teammates, Neal Colzie, Gary Dunn, and Ralph Ortega, also went on to play in the NFL. The foursome is featured on the Gallery’s High School Teammates page.
Cameron is one of at least fourteen players in the deck of 1973 Florida Playing Cards who later played professionally. You can see the complete deck in the Gallery.
