Yesterday I added 1980 Seattle Seahawks Police cards to the Vintage Football Card Gallery. There are sixteen cards in the set: fourteen players, head coach Jack Patera, and the team’s mascot, cleverly named “The Seahawk.” They’re nice cards, with mostly head-and-shoulders sideline shots of the players.
The backs of the cards show that they were sponsored in part by Coca-Cola and the now-defunct Ernst Home Centers. The cards are numbered, surprisingly–they’re the first police cards I’ve seen with numbers on them. You have to squint to see the numbers, though. They’re in a tiny font along the right edge of the back.
Today’s card of the day is Nick Bebout’s 1980 Seahawks Police card. Bebout played tackle for eight years in the NFL: three with the Atlanta Falcons, four with the Seahawks, and one with the Minnesota Vikings. He did not play for the Seahawks in 1980, however. Seattle traded him to Minnesota the day before the season started.
You can see the full set of 1980 Seahawks Police cards in the Gallery.
