This week I added 1980 Miami Dolphins Police cards to the Vintage Football Card Gallery. There are sixteen cards in the set, including six members of the Dolphins Honor Roll and three members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The backs of the cards show that they were co-sponsored by the local Kiwanis Club.
Today’s card of the day is Larry Little’s 1980 Dolphins Police card. Little, who was undrafted out of Bethune-Cookman University, played guard for two seasons for the San Diego Chargers and twelve for the Dolphins. He played in three consecutive Super Bowls with the Dolphins, including their wins in Super Bowls VII and VIII. He was named First-Team All-Pro five straight seasons, 1971 to 1975, and he was inducted into both the Dolphins Honor Roll and Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993.
After retiring as a player, Little coached football for sixteen years, including nine at Bethune-Cookman and six at North Carolina Central University.
You can see all of Larry Little’s cards and the full set of 1980 Dolphins Police cards in the Gallery.
I never knew that he had gone undrafted. A lot of teams sure whiffed on that one.
