Mike Pruitt, who was a running back for eleven years in the NFL, is celebrating his 70th birthday today. Pruitt played his first nine seasons for the Cleveland Browns, and his last two for the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. He was a 1000-yard rusher four times with the Browns; in each of those four years he gained over 1300 yards from scrimmage. Pruitt made the Pro Bowl in 1979 and 1980, and he was named a Cleveland Browns Legend in 2004.
Today’s card of the day is Pruitt’s 1979 Topps card. Typically I feature a player’s rookie card, but Pruitt’s two earlier cards, 1977 Topps and 1978 Topps, both picture him with his helmet on, so I prefer this one.
Happy birthday, Mr. Pruitt!
