Happy 70th birthday to Rich Mauti! Mauti was a wide receiver and special teams player for eight seasons in the NFL: 1977 to 1983 with the New Orleans Saints, and 1984 with the Washington Redskins. He played on one playoff team, the 1984 Redskins.
Mauti’s son, Michael Mauti, also played in the NFL. He was a linebacker for five seasons with the Minnesota Vikings and the Saints.
Today’s card of the day is Rich Mauti’s 1979 Coke Saints card. It is one of 45 cards in the set–one for nearly every player on the team. It’s a great set, with sharp black-and-white head shots of the players. If only Coke had distributed a similar set for every NFL team!
