Earl Edwards, a lineman for thirteen years in the CFL and NFL, passed away on May 2. He was 78. Edwards started his pro career with the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos, playing offensive tackle for the team in 1967 and 1968. He then moved to the NFL and spent the rest of his career on the defensive line: four years for the San Francisco 49ers, three years each for the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns, and one year for the Green Bay Packers. He played on four playoff teams: the 1970, 1971, and 1972 49ers, and the 1974 Bills.
Today’s card of the day is Edwards’s 1968 O-Pee-Chee CFL card. He also appeared on cards with NFL teams. You can see all of his cards in the Gallery.
