Jim Carter, who played linebacker for the Green Bay Packers from 1970 to 1978, passed away on November 23. He was 75. Carter made the Pro Bowl once, in 1973.
Carter played fullback at the University of Minnesota, but the Packers converted him to linebacker. He also played varsity hockey at Minnesota.
After retiring from football, Carter bought several car dealerships in Wisconsin. He ran the dealerships for 25 years, until selling them in 2005.
The card pictured here is Carter’s 1977 Holsum Bread card. The 1977 Holsum set is a small regional set containing 11 Packers and 11 Minnesota Vikings. Holsum followed up with another set of cards in 1978. The 1978 set contains 33 cards and includes players from most of the NFL teams.
