Happy 70th birthday to Jim Burrow! Burrow played defensive back for the Green Bay Packers in 1976, then moved to the CFL. He spent five seasons in Canada, playing for the Montreal Alouettes, Calgary Stampeders, and Ottawa Rough Riders. He was a member of the Alouettes team that won the CFL’s Grey Cup Championship in 1977.
After retiring as a player, Burrow coached college and high school football for 28 years. He is the father of Heisman Trophy winner and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow.
Burrow is shown here on his 1974 University of Nebraska Playing Card. He is one of at least 12 players in the 1974 Nebraska deck who later played in the NFL. You can see the whole deck in the Vintage Football Card Gallery.
