Happy 80th birthday to Bobby Bryant! Bryant was a defensive back for thirteen seasons in the NFL, all with the Minnesota Vikings. He was a member of the Vikings teams who played in Super Bowls IV, VIII, IX, and XI. Bryant had 51 career interceptions, second-most all-time for the Vikings, behind Paul Krause‘s 53.
Today’s card of the day is Bryant’s 1977 Holsum Bread card. The 1977 Holsum cards are a regional set containing eleven Vikings and eleven Green Bay Packers. Strangely, the name “Holsum” does not appear anywhere on the cards. (There is a Topps copyright line on the back, however.) Holsum would distribute another set of cards in 1978, this time with 27 of the 28 NFL teams represented.
