Happy 75th birthday to Ronald “Po” James! James was a running back for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1972 to 1975. His best year was his rookie season, when he started all fourteen games and gained 721 yards from scrimmage.
Before his pro career, James starred at New Mexico State. In 1968, he broke the NCAA freshman rushing record with 1,291 yards. The record stood until Tony Dorsett broke it in 1973.
Today’s card of the day is James’s rookie card, a 1974 Topps. He also appeared on 1975 Topps and 1976 Topps football cards.
