Happy 70th birthday to Emery Moorehead! Moorehead played twelve seasons in the NFL: 1977 to 1979 with the New York Giants, 1980 with the Denver Broncos, and 1981 to 1988 with the Chicago Bears. At various times, he played wide receiver, running back, and tight end. He also returned kickoffs early in his career. In 1985, Moorehead tied Mark Clayton for the NFL’s longest pass reception of the year, 85 yards.
Moorehead played in one Super Bowl, the Bears’ 46-10 win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XX. His son, Aaron Moorehead, also played on a Super Bowl-winning team, the 2006 Indianapolis Colts. According to Wikipedia, the Mooreheads are the only father-son pair to each have won a Super Bowl ring.
