Steve Tensi, who played quarterback for six seasons in the AFL and NFL, passed away on March 15. He was 81. Tensi played for the San Diego Chargers from 1965 to 1966, and for the Denver Broncos from 1967 to 1970. He threw four touchdown passes in his first pro start, a Chargers win over the Miami Dolphins in 1966.
Today’s card of the day is Tensi’s rookie card, a 1967 Topps. The card pictures him with the Chargers, but he played for the Broncos in 1967. The Chargers traded him to Denver in August of 1967 for the Broncos’ 1968 and 1969 first-round draft picks.
Tensi appeared on two more Topps cards with the Broncos, and on a 1969 Glendale Stamp.
