Happy 80th birthday to John Huard! Huard played linebacker for six seasons with the AFL’s Denver Broncos, the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, and the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes. He started all but one game for the Broncos from 1967 to 1969.
Before the Broncos drafted him, Huard starred at the University of Maine. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
After retiring as a player, Huard had a long coaching career in colleges, the USFL, and the CFL. He served as head coach of the Toronto Argonauts in 2000.
Today’s card of the day is Huard’s 1970 Topps card, his only appearance on a regular issue card. He also appeared on a 1969 Glendale Stamp.
