Myron Pottios, who played linebacker for twelve seasons in the NFL, is celebrating his 85th birthday today. Pottios played four years for the Pittsburgh Steelers, five for the Los Angeles Rams, and three for the Washington Redskins. He was selected for the Pro Bowl three times with the Steelers.
Pottios is pictured here on his 1963 IDL Steelers photo. There are 25 photos in the IDL set, which was distributed by IDL Drug Stores. (IDL stood for Independent Drugstores League.) You can read about the photos in an article in my old blog.
Pottios appeared on numerous cards during his playing career. Strangely, though, he never appeared on a card with the Rams, the team for which he played the longest. You can see all of Pottios’s cards in the Gallery.
Happy birthday, Mr. Pottios!
