Happy 70th birthday to Clark Gaines! Gaines had a seven-year NFL career as a running back with the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs. He gained over 1000 yards from scrimmage in three of his first four years with the Jets, and he was the first rookie to be named the team’s MVP. A prolific receiver, Gaines caught seventeen passes in a 1980 game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Today’s card of the day is Gaines’s 1980 Topps card. He appears on a few other cards in the Gallery, as well.
