Happy 70th birthday to Douglas Riggs “Bucky” Dilts! Dilts was a punter for three seasons in the NFL: two for the Denver Broncos, and one for the Baltimore Colts. He was part of the Broncos team that played in Super Bowl XII, a 27-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
This is Dilts’s 1979 Topps card. It shows him still with the Broncos, though he played for the Colts in 1979. (The Broncos traded him to the Colts for a draft pick in August.) Number 63, running with Dilts, is defensive lineman John Grant. Grant played seven years for the Broncos, but unfortunately never appeared on a card of his own. I can give him a shout-out here, at least.
Dilts appeared one other regular issue card, his rookie card, a 1978 Topps.
