Carl Barzilauskas, who played defensive tackle for six seasons with the New York Jets and Green Bay Packers, passed away on December 20. He was 72. In 1974, playing for the Jets, Barzilauskas finished second in voting for the AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, behind Pittsburgh’s Jack Lambert. Barzilauskas was the nephew of Frank “Fritz” Barzilauskas, who played in the NFL from 1947 to 1951.
Barzilauskas is pictured here on his 1976 Topps card. To my knowledge, it is his only appearance on a card.
