Happy 75th birthday to Herman “Thunderfoot” Weaver! Weaver was the punter for the Detroit Lions from 1970 to 1976, and for the Seattle Seahawks from 1977 to 1980. He best season was 1973–the year this card was issued–when he averaged 43.2 yards per punt.
Weaver is in the NFL record book, though for an unhappy reason. He had 14 punts blocked in his career, setting an NFL record that has since been tied by Harry Newsome.
