Sixty-one years ago today, on November 18, 1962, Jim Brown broke an NFL record by rushing for 4 touchdowns in one half of a game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The record still stands, though it has been tied by 6 other players: Roland Hooks, Chuck Muncie, Eric Dickerson, Shaun Alexander, Priest Holmes, and Doug Martin.
Brown totaled 996 rushing yards in 1962. It was one of only two years in his career in which he didn’t break 1000 yards rushing, and it was the only year he didn’t win the NFL rushing title. (He finished 4th, behind Jim Taylor, John Henry Johnson, and Dick Bass.) He did have a career-high 517 yards receiving, however.
1962 Topps Bucks were inserts in packs of 1962 Topps football cards. There are 48 bills in the set, in denominations of $1, $5, and $10. If you collect them all, you’ll have a total of $167 in play money.
