Mike Kolen, who played linebacker for the Miami Dolphins from 1970 to 1977, passed away on April 3. He was 76 years old. Kolen played in Super Bowls VI, VII, and VIII: a loss to the Dallas Cowboys, a win against the Washington Redskins, and a win against the Minnesota Vikings. Super Bowl VII, the win against the Redskins, capped the Dolphins’ perfect 17-0 season.
Today’s card of the day is Kolen’s 1972 Sunoco Stamp. Kolen never appeared on a regular issue card–probably because the Dolphins had so many stars while he was playing–but he did appear on a few team issue photos and tribute cards.
