Happy 80th birthday to Ted Vactor! Vactor played defensive back from 1969 to 1973 for the Washington Redskins, and in 1975 for the Chicago Bears. He played in Super Bowl VII, which the Redskins lost to the Miami Dolphins, 14-7.
Today’s card of the day is Vactor’s 1971 Topps card. He also appeared on a handful of Redskins team photos, which I don’t yet have in the Gallery.
In a fun 2013 interview with Redskins Chronicles, Vactor describes how he talked himself into a tryout with the Redskins. You can watch the interview on YouTube.
Some years back I blogged about this card and a trade I made, trading this card away to – Ted’s son Tori. Some years later I reacquired a copy of this card.

Thanks for the link, Kirk. I enjoyed your Tori story.
