Last Sunday, DaRon Bland of the Dallas Cowboys recorded his 4th pick-six of the 2023 season, tying an NFL record held by Ken Houston, Jim Kearney, and Eric Allen. The Cowboys still have 7 regular season games to play this year, so he has a decent chance of breaking the record.
Ken Houston was the first player to hit the mark, returning 4 interceptions for touchdowns in 1971. He is shown here on his rookie card, a 1971 Topps. Houston also returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown in 1971, for his 5th defensive score of the year. The 71-yard blocked field goal return is in the books as the longest fumble return in the NFL that season.
Houston had a 14-year NFL career with the Houston Oilers and Washington Redskins. He went to the Pro Bowl 12 straight years, and he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1986. He appears on lots of cards in the Gallery.
