Jim Heighton, who played defensive end from 1969 to 1981 in the Canadian Football League, passed away on December 13. He was 79. Heighton played one season for the BC Lions, nine for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, two for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and one for the Montreal Alouettes. He was named a CFL West All-Star four times, and he was inducted into the Winnipeg Football Club Hall of Fame in 2014. According to his page on the Blue Bombers web site, Heighton also starred in multiple other sports, notably baseball and track and field.
Unfortunately, the card companies didn’t produce a lot of CFL cards in the 1970s. Heighton appears on just one card in the Gallery, the 1971 O-Pee-Chee card shown here.
