Ken Bowman, who played center for the Green Bay Packers from 1964 to 1973, passed away on December 27. He was 81. Bowman was a member of the Packers’ NFL Championship teams of 1965, 1966, and 1967, and he played in the first two Super Bowls. In the 1967 NFL Championship Game, better known as the “Ice Bowl,” Bowman teamed up with Jerry Kramer to block the Dallas Cowboys’ Jethro Pugh and allow Bart Starr to sneak in for the winning touchdown.
Bowman also played one season, 1975, for The Hawaiians of the World Football League, before that league folded. He was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 1981.
Today’s card of the day is Bowman’s rookie card, a 1970 Topps. For an offensive lineman, he appeared on an impressive number of cards and other collectibles. You can see all of them in the Gallery.
