Paul Guidry, a linebacker who played nine seasons of pro football, is celebrating his 80th birthday today. Guidry played seven years for the Buffalo Bills, one for the Houston Oilers, and one for the World Football League’s Portland Storm. There is a nice article about Guidry on the Professional Football Researchers Association web site.
Today’s card of the day is Guidry’s rookie card, a 1969 Topps. 1969 Topps was the first set I collected as a kid, and this was one of the first football cards I ever pulled from a pack. I can still smell the gum!
Guidry appeared a a few other cards, as well. You can see them all in the Gallery.
Happy birthday, Mr. Guidry!
