Happy 80th birthday to Gary Garrison! Garrison played wide receiver for eleven seasons with the San Diego Chargers and one with the Houston Oilers. He was named an AFL All-Star once and an NFL Pro Bowler three times, and he was inducted into the Chargers Hall of Fame in 1985. Unfortunately, none of his teams made the playoffs, so he never got to play in a playoff game.
Today’s card of the day is Garrison’s rookie card, a 1968 Topps. Garrison caught 52 passes for a career-high 1103 yards in 1968–an average of 21.2 yards per catch. 1968 was the year he was named to the AFL West All-Star team.
Garrison appeared on lots of other cards, as well. You can see them all in the Gallery.
