Happy 85th birthday to Gordon Smith! Smith played tight end for the Minnesota Vikings from 1961 to 1965. His most productive season was 1965, when he gained 431 yards receiving and caught five touchdown passes.
Today’s card of the day is Smith’s 1966 Philadelphia card. This is his only regular issue card, and it didn’t come out until after his last season in the NFL. It is one of the 66 double prints in the 1966 Philadelphia set. (Though the price guides don’t acknowledge it, each of the Philadelphia sets from 1964 to 1967 contains double prints.
