Happy 85th birthday to Glenn Bass! Bass was a wide receiver for eight seasons in the American Football League: six for the Buffalo Bills and two for the Houston Oilers. He played on the Bills teams that won the AFL Championship in 1964 and 1965. In 1964, Bass had the AFL’s longest pass reception, a 94-yard play from Jack Kemp.
Today’s card of the day is Bass’s rookie card, a 1965 Topps “tallboy.” Unfortunately, Topps misspelled his first name on the card, leaving off an “n.” Bass also appeared on 1966 Topps and 1967 Topps football cards, with his name spelled correctly.
