Happy 85th birthday to Frank Jackson! Jackson played halfback and wide receiver for seven years in the American Football League: five with the Dallas Texans/Kansas City Chiefs and two with the Miami Dolphins. He was a member of the 1962 Texans team that won the AFL Championship. Jackson’s most productive season was 1964, when he caught 62 passes for 943 yards. That same year, he caught four touchdown passes in a game against the San Diego Chargers.
After retiring from football, Jackson attended law school and became a defense attorney. In 2018, he was inducted into the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association Hall of Fame. There is a nice article about him on the web site of The Dallas Morning News.
Today’s card of the day is Jackson’s rookie card, a 1964 Topps, one of the short prints in the set. He also appeared on several other cards, which you can see in the Gallery.
Jackson’s older brother, Charlie Jackson, also played professional football. He appeared on a 1960 Fleer football card.
