Happy President’s Day! Today’s card of the day is a 1963 Fleer card of Keith Lincoln. I don’t believe Lincoln was a descendant of the famous president, but we’ll go with him just for his famous last name.
Lincoln had an eight-year career in the American Football League, playing running back for the San Diego Chargers and Buffalo Bills. He was a threat as both a runner and receiver, twice gaining over 1100 yards from scrimmage for the season. In the 1963 AFL Championship game, Lincoln rushed for 206 yards and caught passes for another 123. The Chargers beat the Boston Patriots, 51-10, and Lincoln was named the game MVP. He was inducted into the Chargers Hall of Fame in 1980.
Lincoln’s 1963 Fleer card is his rookie card; he appeared on cards for the next five years, as well. You can see all of his cards in the Gallery.
I love the way that the team logos look on this particular design.
