Uncut Sheets of 1955 Topps All-American Football Cards
The pictures below show how I believe uncut sheets of 1955 Topps All-American football cards were configured. Based on a partial sheet, a lot of miscut cards, and discussion among other collectors, I believe that the 100-card set was printed on a 220-card full sheet, with each half sheet containing 50 different cards. On each half sheet, 40 of the 50 cards were printed twice, and the remaining 10 were printed three times, for a total of 110 cards per half-sheet. The cards that were printed three times are overprints: 10 on each half-sheet, or 20 total for the set. (Rather than 20 overprints, the price guides say there are 34 short prints in the set. I don't know where that came from, but I believe it is simply incorrect.)
First Half-Sheet
The following diagram shows how the first half-sheet was configured. The diagram is based on a partial sheet that appeared in an online auction. If you hold your cursor over a card, your browser should show you the number of the card and the name of the player. Clicking on a card will bring up the full-sized scan. (A real uncut sheet would not have lines between the cards--that's an effect of scanning them individually.)

The actual partial sheet, mentioned above, holds half of the set's 100 cards. I have found miscut cards that indicate that the first column of the partial sheet was repeated on the left, and that all five columns of the partial sheet were repeated on the right. The first column thus appeared three times on the sheet, and the cards in that column are overprints.
This table shows the numbering of the cards on the sheet. The numbers in green are the overprints.

Second Half Sheet
In addition to the partial sheet above, I have pieced together bits of the uncut sheet by looking at badly miscut cards. Here are the pieces I have so far. Some of them will overlap.

This is how the bits of the sheet are numbered. As I find more miscut cards, these pieces will begin to fit together. If you find a miscut card that you think will help, please email me a picture of it.
