Brown had 996 rushing yards in 1962. It was only the second season in his career in which he didn't break 1000 yards rushing, and it was the only year he didn't win the NFL rushing title. He did have a career-high 517 receiving yards, though. |

I believe that Ryan is wearing Len Dawson's old jersey in this photo. Dawson wore number 18 for the Browns, and the Browns released him around June 1, 1962. The Browns then acquired Ryan in a trade on July 12, 1962. By the time the Browns had their 1962 team photo taken, Ryan was wearing number 13, his number for his seven seasons in Cleveland. |

Brown scored 4 touchdowns in one half of a 1962 game against the St. Louis Cardinals, setting an NFL record that still stands. The record has since been tied by Roland Hooks, Chuck Muncie, Eric Dickerson, Shaun Alexander, Priest Holmes, and Doug Martin. |
