1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL Football Cards

There are 115 cards in the 1970 O-Pee-Chee CFL football card set. The player cards have nearly the same design, front and back, as second series 1969 Topps NFL and AFL football cards. The only difference is that the CFL cards have football fields and stadiums in the background, while the NFL/AFL cards have solid color backgrounds.

Because the 1970 CFL set contains 115 cards, some of the cards must have been appeared three times on the uncut sheets, while the rest appeared just twice. A standard sheet contains 264 cards, and 115 does not divide evenly into 264. Cards 111-115 seem like fillers: three lists of award winners, a list of the coaches, and an explanation of the jersey numbering system. Perhaps they were just a way to make the set slightly different from the 1969 NFL/AFL set.
