1958-59 Redskins Matchbooks
1958-59 Redskins Matchbooks were printed by the Universal Match Corporation of St. Louis and distributed by 1st Federal Savings and Loan of Washington. There are twenty matchbooks in all. According to Beckett, ten of the matchbooks were printed in 1958, and the other ten in 1959. There are three Hall-of-Famers in the group: Sammy Baugh, Cliff Battles, and Bill Dudley.
Each matchbook has a floating head shot of a player on the outside of the cover, and the player's name and brief biographical information on the inside. The covers also show the years the player played for Washington. By my count, nine of the players never appeared on a regular-issue football card.
