1956 49ers Team Issue Football Cards
There are 36 photos in the 1956 49ers Team Issue Photo set, including 49ers players, coaches, the personnel director, and TV and radio broadcasters. (Beckett says there 35 photos in the set, but Pappy Waldorf was included in the set I purchased, so I'm going with 36.) The photos are 4 1/8 by 6 1/8 inches, and they are printed on photo paper. Most of the photos are repeats from the prior year's set, but with the bios on the backs updated.
To me, the highlight of the set is Earl Morrall. 1956 was Morrall's rookie season, and his photo in this set pre-dates his rookie card by a year. He played just one season for the 49ers; in 1957 he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
