1950 Bread for Health Labels
There are 32 labels in the 1950 Bread for Health set. The labels are just under 3 inches square, and they were used to seal the ends of packages of bread. (See U.S. Patent 2,222,785 for an illustration.) According to Beckett, two of the bakeries that used the labels were NBC Bread, of Michigan; and Fisher's Bread, of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
The labels picture NFL stars of the day. As far as I know, two of the players, Jack Russell and Joe Signaigo, never appeared on standard football cards. The labels are not numbered, so I have listed them in alphabetical order.
Jeff Payne provided the images for this set. Thanks, Jeff!
