In 1963, his rookie season with the Minnesota Vikings, Hultz recovered 9 opponents' fumbles. That is still an NFL record. His 1968 Topps card still shows him in his Vikings uniform, though he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 1964.

The 1967 Cowboys finished 9-5 and lost to the Green Bay Packers in the "Ice Bowl." The 1968 Cowboys went 12-2 and lost to the Cleveland Browns in the divisional round of the playoffs.
