Kevin Long, who played running back for eight seasons in the NFL and USFL, passed away on September 10. He was 69. Long played for the New York Jets from 1977 to 1981 , the Chicago Blitz in 1983, the Arizona Wranglers in 1984, and the Arizona Outlaws in 1985.
Long’s best NFL season was 1978, when he gained 1158 yards from scrimmage. He played in one playoff game, a wild-card loss to the Buffalo Bills in 1981, and scored a touchdown in it.
Long played college football at the University of South Carolina.
