Happy 70th birthday to Rick Engles! Engles was a punter for three seasons in the NFL: 1976 with the Seattle Seahawks, 1977 with the Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers, and 1978 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was an original Seattle Seahawk, acquired in the third round of the 1976 college draft–a round ahead of Steve Largent.
Engles played in one playoff game, in 1977 with the Steelers. He played college football at the University of Tulsa. There is a nice 2022 “Where are they now?” article about Engles at tulsaworld.com.
Today’s card is Engles’s 1977 Topps card.
