Happy 75th birthday to Dan Ryczek! Ryczek played center for seven seasons in the NFL: 1973 to 1975 for the Washington Redskins, 1976 and 1977 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and 1978 and 1979 with the Los Angeles Rams. He became an original Buccaneer when Tampa Bay acquired him from the Redskins in the 1976 NFL Expansion Draft. His last game was Super Bowl XIV, which the Rams lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Ryczek played college football at the University of Virginia. His younger brother, Paul Ryczek, also played at Virginia and in the NFL.
Today’s card of the day is Dan Ryczek’s rookie card, a 1976 Topps. Maybe the Blue Angels were flying over? He also appeared on a couple more Topps cards.
