Happy 75th birthday to Jim Osborne! Osborne played defensive tackle for thirteen seasons, 1972 to 1984, with the Chicago Bears. He was a member of the Bears playoff teams in 1977, 1979, and 1984. Osborne played college football at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Today’s card of the day is Osborne’s 1976 Coke Bears Disc, one of 22 in the set. The discs are similar to 1976 Crane Discs and 1976 Buckmans Discs, except that they have tabs attached, which allowed the discs to be hung on Coke bottles. The tabs can be detached from the discs along a perforation. I believe that the 22 players were intended to represent the Bears’ starting lineup in 1976.
