Happy 70th birthday to Dave Farmer! Farmer played running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1978. Prior to the pros, Farmer played college football at USC.
Farmer’s older brother and nephew also played in the NFL. His older brother, George Farmer, was a wide receiver for the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions. His nephew, Danny Farmer–George’s son–was a receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Today’s card of the day is a Dave Farmer’s 1974 USC Disc. The disc is one of thirty in the set, which was packaged in a little plastic football. Twenty-five of the discs picture USC players; another pictures coach John McKay. Remarkably, eighteen of the twenty-five players played professionally: seventeen in the NFL, and one in the CFL.
