Happy 75th birthday to Dave Elmendorf! Elmendorf played defensive back from 1971 to 1979 for the Los Angeles Rams. He started every game for the Rams during his career: 130 in the regular season, and 13 in the playoffs. His last game was Super Bowl XVI, in which he had an interception. Unfortunately, the Rams lost the game to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-19.
Before his NFL career, Elmendorf starred at Texas A&M. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1997.
Today’s card of the day is Elmendorf’s rookie card, a 1972 Topps. He also appeared on several other cards, which you can see in the Gallery.
