Happy 80th birthday to Levert Carr! Carr was a lineman–first defensive, then offensive–for six seasons in the AFL, NFL, and WFL. He played for the San Diego Chargers in 1969, the Buffalo Bills in 1970 and 1971, the Houston Oilers in 1972 and 1973, and the WFL’s Portland Storm in 1974.
Carr played college football at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. He is one of only two players from North Central who have played in the NFL. The other was Ron Selesky, who played center for the Minnesota Vikings in 1987.
Today’s card of the day is Carr’s 1972 Sunoco Stamp. The stamp shows Carr with the Buffalo Bills, though the Bills had traded him to the Oilers in July of 1972. He also appeared on 1972 Oilers team issue photo, which I haven’t yet added to the Gallery.
