Kevin Hardy, who played defensive tackle for four seasons in the NFL, passed away on May 6. He was 78. Hardy played for the San Francisco 49ers in 1968, the Green Bay Packers in 1970, and the San Diego Chargers in 1971 and 1972.
Before his professional career, Hardy lettered in three sports at Notre Dame. He was a member of the Fighting Irish football team that won the 1966 National Championship, he played on the basketball team that made the NCAA tournament in 1965, and he played right field for the baseball team.
Today’s “card” of the day is Hardy’s 1972 Sunoco Stamp. He did not appear on any cards while playing, but he did appear on a couple of team issue photos and some more recent Notre Dame legacy football cards.
