Duane Thomas, who played running back professionally for five seasons, passed away on August 4. He was 77. Thomas played for the Dallas Cowboys in 1970 and 1971, the Washington Redskins in 1973 and 1974, and the World Football League’s Hawaiians in 1975. He led the NFL with 5.3 yards per carry in 1970, and with 11 rushing touchdowns in 1971. Thomas played in two Super Bowls with the Cowboys: a loss to the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl V, and a win over the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl VI.
Thomas played college football for West Texas State University.
