Happy 80th birthday to Alvin Reed! Reed played tight end for nine seasons in the AFL and NFL: 1967 to 1972 with the Houston Oilers, and 1973 to 1975 for the Washington Redskins. He was an AFL All-Star in 1968 and 1969. Reed’s best season was 1968, when he caught 46 passes for 747 yards and five touchdowns. He played college football at Prairie View A&M University in Texas.
Today’s card of the day is Reed’s rookie card, a 1971 Topps. He also appeared on a 1973 Topps football card and a couple of stamps.
