Happy 80th birthday to Gus Otto! Otto played linebacker for 8 seasons with the Oakland Raiders: 5 in the AFL, and 3 more after the AFL/NFL merger. He was a starter on the Raiders team that played in Super Bowl II against the Green Bay Packers. In his rookie season, 1965, Otto returned two interceptions for touchdowns, tying him for the AFL lead with his teammate, Dave Grayson.
Pictured here is Otto’s 1969 Raiders team issue photo. These photos are 8 1/2 by 10 1/2 inches, and they are printed on lightweight cardboard. There are 16 photos in the set: 8 offensive players, and 8 defensive players. There is an error on Otto’s photo: RAIDERS, at the bottom, is misspelled RIADERS.
You can see all of Gus Otto’s cards in the Vintage Football Card Gallery. You can also see the full set of 1969 Raiders Team Issue Photos.
