Happy 80th birthday to Pat Matson! Matson played guard for ten seasons in the AFL and NFL: 1966 and 1967 for the Denver Broncos, 1968 to 1974 for the Cincinnati Bengals, and 1975 for the Green Bay Packers. He was an original member of the Bengals; Cincinnati acquired him from the Broncos in the 1968 AFL Expansion Draft. Matson was a starter on two Bengals playoff teams, in 1970 and 1973.
Today’s card of the day is Matson’s 1969 Glendale Stamp. It was issued two years before his rookie card, a 1971 Topps. He also appeared on a few other cards, which you can see in the Gallery.
