Peter Martin, who played linebacker from 1965 to 1972 for the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts, passed away on July 19. He was 83. Martin had seven career interceptions and seven fumble recoveries, and he played in the Grey Cup in 1971. (The Argonauts lost to the Calgary Stampeders, 14-11).
After retiring as a player, Martin was a color commentator on radio for Argonauts games for over 25 years. He also served two years as the team’s stadium announcer. He was inducted into the media section of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2000.
Today’s card of the day is Martin’s 1968 O-Pee-Chee CFL card. He also appeared on a 1971 O-Pee-Chee card.
